Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on Surrey Libraries' website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Surrey Libraries cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information.  Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on the Surrey Libraries website, we encourage you to contact Surrey Libraries to discuss it.  You can also contact the City of Surrey at 604-591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

Field trips led by library staff for ESL groups, daycares, preschools, school groups.
Tour activities can be customized to meet your group's needs and may include:

  • Tour/orientation
  • Storytime
  • Booktalks (from Surrey Book of the Year to Red Cedar and beyond)
  • Database training in computer classrooms on research topic of choice (City Centre, Guildford, Semiahmoo, and Strawberry Hill only)

Book Exchanges and Group Study Sessions

Self-guided and independent tour of Surrey Libraries.

  • Develop a library routine by scheduling regular self-directed class visits to the library to select and return books.
  • Let us know of your plan to visit the library ahead of time to ensure that your visit does not overlap with other scheduled events.
  • Let us know what topic students will be working on so that we will be prepared to help them find what they need. Allow students to be flexible in their choice of topic so not everyone needs the same material.
  • Please remain with your group and support their use of the library.

  • Print the student library card application form and make enough copies for your students.
  • Having trouble with the form? Please contact or the children's librarian at your local library.
  • Important: Please allow plenty of time for parents to complete and sign the application forms. We need at least one week before your visit to process the forms after they have been returned to the library.

Visits to Schools

Our children’s team love being out and about in the community!

  • Please invite us to your school or centre to promote the public library, the latest books, the Summer Reading Club and more to students and/or parents.
  • Remember to book early as available times fill up quickly.
