Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on Surrey Libraries' website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Surrey Libraries cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information.  Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on the Surrey Libraries website, we encourage you to contact Surrey Libraries to discuss it.  You can also contact the City of Surrey at 604-591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

Income Tax Clinics

Need Help Filing Your Personal Tax Return?

A volunteer from DIVERSEcity, trained by the Canada Revenue Agency, will help prepare and electronically file (if eligible) your tax return. Refunds are often received within 15 days.

Who can attend these free clinics?

  • You must be a Surrey resident
  • Your income must fall within these guidelines:
    Single Person: $30,000
    Single parent with child: $35,000
    Each additional child: $ 2,500
    Couples: $40,000
    Investment income under: $ 1,000
  • You have a simple tax return (no self employment, no bankruptcy, no forms for deceased, no capital gains/losses and no rental income)
  • You must attend in person

What do I need to bring?

  • Your 2016 tax assessment & the tax package you received in the mail
  • All your T slips (work, OAS, CPP, bank, income assistance, worker’s compensation, EI)
  • Foreign pension (we need to calculate how much you have received)
  • All your receipts (medical, union, tuition, moving expenses, childcare, RRSP contributions)
  • Your identification
  • Coins for printing (20 cents a page)
  • Interpreter (if possible)

Locations & Dates, 2017

Clinics run on a first come, first serve basis with a limit of 50 clients. Tickets are given out when the library opens on the day of the clinic. Come early to help ensure your spot, and be prepared to wait.
