The electronic translation service on Surrey Libraries' website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Alldata — Automotive repair information for technicians, from manufacturer's manuals, 1982 - present. Available in library only at the City Centre, Guildford and Newton branches. See the Alldata User Guide


Ancestry Library — International genealogy resource with the largest online Canadian family history collection, searchable by surname. Includes many digitized full records. Available in library only at the Cloverdale Library Family History department.


Ancient & Medieval History Online — Learn about the cultures of ancient Egypt, ancient Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, ancient Rome, ancient and medieval Africa, medieval Europe, the Americas, and ancient and medieval Asia. Includes biographies, timelines, maps and videos.

Auto Repair Reference Centre — Repair information on more than 35,000 vehicles from 1945 to present, including drawings and step-by-step photographs, technical service bulletins & recalls issued by the original equipment vehicle manufacturer, wiring diagrams for easy viewing and printing, specifications & maintenance schedules and labour time estimates. Designed for the layperson.

Business Plans Handbook — Collection of hundreds of actual business plans compiled by entrepreneurs seeking funding for small businesses.


Business Source Premier — Covers business-related subject matter, including country economic data, company profiles, industry information & market research.



Canadian Legal Education Society of BC — Family Law Sourcebook, Family Law Practice manual, plus many more. Must use in library and requires login. Please see the Information Desk at any Surrey Library for help.


Canadian Newsstream — Major dailies and local Canadian newspapers online including The Vancouver Sun, Province, Globe & Mail, National Post, and Surrey Leader. Content for some titles starts as far back as 1985. Some titles are not available for 2 days after publication. Now includes an obituary search.


CareerAIM — Canada's largest single source of job postings. Includes job boards, industry job sites, corporate websites, Usenet, newspapers, and all levels of government postings. Encyclopaedia Universalis — French language encyclopedia for native French speakers, bilingual students, or anyone learning French, published by Encyclopedia Britannica.


Encyclopaedia Universalis Junior — French language encyclopedia for ages 7 and up, covers subjects studied in school and of interest to children. Based on the Britannica Student Encyclopedia.

Find My Past — World Collection includes U.K., U.S., Irish, Australia, New Zealand, and many smaller record sets from around the world including the 1939 Register. Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia — Provides over 25,000 encyclopedia articles covering a variety of subject areas.
Global Road Warrior — Current coverage of travel, communications and cultural issues for students, travelers, or international business people. Includes high-resolution maps and photos.
GreenFile — Articles on environmental topics.
HeritageQuest — Combines digital, searchable images of U.S. federal census records with other genealogical and historic collections. Available in library only at the Cloverdale Library Family History department.

Learning Express — Comprehensive database of practice tests and tutorial courses. Includes job search skills, computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Adobe...), TOEFL, GED, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, as well as professional exams, and exams for elementary-high school students. Martin's Online Criminal Code — Legal research tool that provides access to the Criminal Code along with corresponding commentary. Masterfile Premier — Almost 2,000 magazines covering all subjects.
Naxos Music Library — An online listening music library containing over 85,000 streaming audio tracks of classical, jazz, world, and folk music. Sound quality near CD. While listening online, you can read notes on the works being played or biographies of composers. Up to 5 users at a time.
