wə ʔayəm kʷs niʔ ct ʔiməx – We Walk Slowly

Come join us for a walk through the neighbourhood and learn about the useful plants that surround us.  Deanna will lead a medicinal plant walk, and share teachings on native and medicinal plants, used by her ancestors on this land.  We are reminded to “walk slowly”, be mindful and learn what it means to be stewards of this land and territory.

Deanna’s ancestry is of Katzie First Nation, and she was born and raised on Katzie Territory in Langley.  She has worked as an Aboriginal Support Worker for the Langley School District for 11 years.  She makes traditional medicines from plants she harvests in her territory in an effort to return to the ways of her ancestors.   She enjoys all opportunities to share this ancestral knowledge through workshops and plant walks.
