Keep your family cozy this December with great books!

Join the free Winter Reading Club, spend time together, and have a chance to win prizes. 

Runs December 1 - 31st, 2017.

How to join the winter reading club:

  1. Pick up a Reading Log and Colouring Contest sheets at any library location
  2. Read as a family for 14 days or more
  3. Colour in each day of reading in the log
  4. Return your Reading Log by December 31st to the library for a chance to win the Grand Prize Gift Basket!

Families have the chance of winning any of these great prizes:

  • Grand Prize Gift Basket (value $100) for Reading Log draw (there will be 1 prize given across all 9 Surrey Libraries)
  • $25 gift card to Guildford Town Centre for colouring contest Reading by Fireplace (there will be 2 prizes awarded at each branch)
  • Gift basket ($50 value) for colouring contest Reading in the Snow (there will be 1 prize awarded at each branch)

Drop off entries to your local library by December 31, 2017 for a chance to win!

Contest Details

1) ENTRY PERIOD

The Contest begins at 9:30 am on December 1st and ends on December 31, 2017 at 5 pm.

2) ELIGIBILITY

Employees and immediate family members of Surrey Libraries and the City of Surrey are not eligible to enter.

Colouring Contests
Kids under the age of 14 must receive the consent of a parent or guardian to claim prize. 

Reading Log
Kids under the age of 14 must receive the consent of a parent or guardian to claim prize. 
Winners must answer a skill‐testing question to claim a prize.

3) HOW TO ENTER

Colouring contest
There are 2 Colouring sheets. Kids can pick up colouring sheets beginning December 1st from any branch of Surrey Libraries. Kids colour sheets and fill in the information requested on the sheet (their name, age, phone, branch). The sheet/s is put in the draw box. 

Reading Log
Families can pick up Reading Log from any branch of Surrey Libraries. They read together for 14 days. They must complete the information on both sides of the log and put it in draw box.

One entry per family for the Grand Prize.

4) INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

  • Upon submission of your entry to the Contest, you irrevocably grant to Surrey Libraries the non‐exclusive, perpetual, royalty‐free, no‐cost license and right to use your entry in any medium including streaming media, film, television, print, interactive devices, mobile media, Internet and on‐line systems, and digital billboards.
  • Surrey Libraries will have the right to use your entry in any merchandising, advertising, marketing, or promotion. You agree that Surrey Libraries shall have the discretion in determining the extent and manner of use of entries and is not obligated to use any entry.
  • You understand that all entries that are posted on the Surrey Libraries website and related social media may be available to be viewed by anyone with access to the Internet.

5) WINNERS AND ODDS

Winners will be notified by the phone number provided on their entry form

Winners will be announced on or before January 15, 2018, on Surrey Libraries’ social media channels, and possibly published in the local newspapers the end of January. 

Reading Log

  • There will be one grand prize winning family drawn from the completed logs. They will be awarded a gift basket valued $100. 
  • Winning entries will be drawn randomly
  • The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries submitted.

Colouring Contests

  • The contest is judged by library staff.
  • There will be 3 prizes awarded per branch - Two $25 gift cards and a gift basket valued at $50.
  • The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries submitted and quality of colouring.

6) TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By participating, you agree to a) abide by the Official Rules and the decisions of Surrey Libraries, which shall be final in all respects; and b) release, discharge and hold harmless the City of Surrey from all liability, claims or damages, arising out of your participation in the Contest and the acceptance, use or misuse of a prize.

Surrey Libraries reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest, and cancel or refuse any entry or any individual winning the Contest.

7) PRIVACY

The City of Surrey adheres to both federal and provincial privacy legislation.
