Repair Café
Tuesday, April 15 2025, 6–8pm
Guildford Branch
Instead of throwing away your broken household item, bring it to one of our free monthly Repair Café sessions. Experienced volunteer fixers will try their best to repair your item so you can keep it longer, save money and help reduce waste.
Let volunteers know you are bringing in an item by emailing surreybcrepaircafe@gmail.com. Drop ins are also welcome.
Please note:
- Only 1 item per person per event
- Ensure your item is clean of dirt, food particles or grease
- Clothing/textiles should be laundered
- Fixers may refuse to repair the item if it is not clean
- Volunteer fixers will let you know if a repair is beyond their skill level
- Because of potential loss of data, fixers usually do not fix cell phones, laptops or computers unless the repair is mechanical (for example, a laptop hinge being broken)
- New replacement parts are not provided by Repair Café or volunteer fixers
- We are unable to repair large appliances
- To participate, you must sign a House Rules waiver of liability
Common items people bring in to a Repair Café:
- Electrical
- Vacuum, mixer, fan, juicer, blender, popcorn maker, grill, coffee maker, kettle, lamp, toaster oven, Christmas lights, heaters, air filters, drills, saws, sanders, hair dryers and other tools
- Electronic
- Radio, stereo, CD player, Bluetooth speakers, laptops
- Mechanical
- Chairs, picture frames, bicycles, or other items needing adjustment or where some part is broken and needs glue or another fix to make it useable
