All Teen Library Councils are now full.
We have six TLCs at City Centre, Clayton-Cloverdale, Fleetwood, Guildford, Newton-Strawberry Hill, and Semiahmoo-Ocean Park. TLC members give back to their community by planning events and advising the library of library services that are meaningful to the teen community.
TLC members will receive volunteer hours for attending meetings and leading programs. You must notify your TLC supervisor if you are going to be absent due to illness or other commitments. These meetings are important planning sessions. If you are unable to attend three monthly meetings in a row, your TLC membership may be revoked.
Applications will open starting May 20, 2025 and will close on July 2, 2025. Some branches may close applications early based on the number of applications. Priority is given to returning members.
All applicants must apply for this program through the city My Impact Page. You will need to have an account to apply. All volunteers must apply to be considered. All new volunteers must submit 2 references to be considered.
If you have not volunteered with the City of Surrey and/or Surrey Libraries Teen Library Council and/or Reading Buddies Program within the past 12 months, your Police Information Check (PIC) must be submitted in person by July 31. Please follow the instructions in the application form carefully.
Accepted volunteers will also be required to attend an orientation session before the first meeting date.
Meetings are held September to June.
