Information Technology Coordinator
Overview
Surrey Libraries has an opening for an IT Coordinator. This is a temporary full-time (35 hours per week), two-year contract position and is located at Library Administration. The Information Technology Coordinator provides a variety of duties related to fulfilling the scope of technology services at Surrey Libraries. This position reports to the Manager, Information Technology and is also accountable to the Director, Collections & Technology.
Examples of Duties
- Acts as project lead for assessing, researching, identifying objectives, evaluating, implementing, and overseeing technology enhancements and new initiatives.
- Monitors and updates project plans and provides updates to various stakeholders.
- Develops and maintains project records, tracking systems, staff guides, reports, presentations, and related costs.
- Generates and analyses data to identify staff and community needs and develops or recommends procedures and practices to meet these needs.
- Collaborates with City Information Technology staff to coordinate system service offerings.
- Investigates, resolves, escalates, and responds to various requests and issues reported by internal and external clients.
- Organizes and coordinates staff support for technology services, including User Acceptance Testing groups.
- Develops communications for staff and coordinates communications for the public related to technology services and systems.
- Maintains and supports a broad range of services related to the integrated library system (ILS).
- Coordinates and/or participates in library committees and undertakes special projects as requested.
- Facilitates training for staff.
- Performs other related duties.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Undergraduate degree in computer technology or related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of directly related work experience, training and courses.
- Minimum 3 years related experience in project management, preferably in IT
- Accurate keyboarding speed of 40 words per minute.
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License with safe driving record.
- Project Management (PMP) or certificate from an International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) accredited program is an asset.
- Ability to lead and execute projects and quality assurance processes with an emphasis on initiatives related to computer infrastructure and associated applications, utilizing best practices.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in business analysis, project management, and technology, and ability to bring forward current and emerging needs to library stakeholders.
- Knowledge of computer systems, features and functions of computers, peripheral devices, networks, and mobile devices.
- Ability to comprehend technical materials and instructions, translate them into plain language, and effectively carry out both oral and written instructions.
- Ability to train staff in the use of computer hardware and software and IT applications.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and comprehensive technical system integration.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, outside organizations and community partners.
- Ability to exercise discretion, problem solving, and decision-making under minimal direction.
- Ability to work positively and professionally in a fast paced and stressful environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with a strong customer-focus orientation.
- Basic budget management skills.

Rate of Pay
$38.91 – $39.85 per hour.
