Teen Read & Review
Description
Earn volunteer hours by reading and reviewing books!
Registration is not required. Please follow the instructions below.
Instructions
- Browse the current list of books. Check back every second month for a new link and a new list.
- Choose one of the books from the list and check out a copy from your local branch.
- Submit a review using the webform.
- Limit of 2 submissions per month.
- Reviews must be submitted before midnight on the last day of the month (e.g. all January reviews must be sent in by Jan 31 at 11:59pm). We’ll move on to a new list of books starting on the 1st of every second month.
- Your review must be in your own words. Do not copy or re-word other reviews that you find online, and do not use generative AI to write your review. We check every review for plagiarism and AI.
- It can take up to a week for your review to be processed and posted.
Volunteer Hours
- You get 1 hour per 100 pages and 1 hour for writing the review.
- If a book is within 20 pages of the next hour, it can be rounded up (e.g. a book with 283 pages will count as 3 hours).
- If you use an eBook, eAudiobook or audiobook, we’ll use the page numbers from the print copy to calculate your volunteer hours.
- You will receive an email confirming your hours earned for each review. A letter confirming your total accumulated hours can be written upon request.
Requirements
- You must be a Surrey resident.
- For teens ages 12-18.
