Authors Among Us: Emotions
Come to meet and hear our local authors who will talk about their books, writing process, and publishing experience.
Sharon Bazant is a retired teacher living in scenic Ocean Park. As a seasoned world traveller and long-term expatriate, she has donned a variety of professional and personal hats. Sharon has published two memoirs, Nine Years in Bangkok: Lessons Learned in 2019 and Geckos & Guns: The Pakistan Years in 2021. Some of her most extraordinary adventures occurred during her years in Pakistan and Thailand. She is currently writing a series of fictional short stories and poems she hopes to publish as an Anthology entitled Women’s Voices. Sharon will be reading from her book Nine Years in Bangkok: Lessons Learned.
Rafeed Elahi Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi author, known mostly for his stories in the arena of romance. He started his writing journey at a really young age, and published his first novel in 2022. Other than 'My Acid Romance', and 'Rules of Eternity', two of his most renowned novels, he is also known for 'Fayez Just Became a Father', a comedy, and 'Moho', his first thriller. Rafeed will be reading from his book Moho.
Susan Alexander’s poems have appeared in Canadian, US and international anthologies and literary magazines, such as The Southern Review, Pangyrus, Arc and Grain. She is the author of two full collections, Nothing You Can Carry (2020) and The Dance Floor Tilts (2017) with Thistledown Press, and most recently with Raven Chapbooks, Berberitzen (2024). Her poetry has won multiple awards, including the 2022 Vancouver’s City Poem Prize. She has hosted poetry readings and panels for the Federation of BC Writers and Victoria’s Festival of Writers. Susan lives in Howe Sound on Nexwlélexm/Bowen Island, the traditional and unceded territory of the Squamish people. Susan will be reading from her book The Dance Floor Tilts.
Authors will be selling books at the end of the event (if you’d like to purchase – bring cash).
