Authors Among Us: Children’s Picture Books

Come to meet and hear our very own local authors who will talk about their books, writing process, and publishing experience.  

Cynthia Carla is an award-winning author, but she didn’t always know she wanted to be an author. It was through facing a health challenge in 2016 that she found her love for writing, and her first children’s book The Who That I Am was born. Cynthia is currently working on her second children’s rhyming book, coming out Spring 2024. Cynthia enjoys watching the eagles at Crescent Beach, meditating, Zumba, and going on long walks with her fur-babies and husband.

Sherry McMillan is an author of children’s poetry and picture books. Her inaugural book,  What The Seal Saw, was awarded the coveted Indigo Chapters Heather’s Kids Pick. She lives in White Rock, B.C. and often kayaks in beautiful Semiahmoo Bay.  In fact, she does most of her writing in her kayak! When she is not writing or kayaking, she feeds her curiosity by working in technology.

Ms. Raman Kaur is co-author of the children’s picture book, Twin Adventures: Ria and Ryan Meet Tejas and Tamanna. Ms. Raman Kaur completed her teaching degree in 2015 at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. She has since upgraded and received her Graduate Diploma at the same university. Since she was 7 years old, she had dreamed of becoming a teacher. While growing up, her grade 3 teachers inspired Ms. Raman Kaur to become a teacher. They played a significant role in her life, which is why she strongly values teaching and wakes up every morning with joy because she likes to inspire young, eager minds.
