Planned giving
Support the people and causes you care about in the years ahead with a planned gift to Surrey Libraries.
You’ll feel good knowing your estate and investments will continue to make a difference for future generations. And you don’t have to give up any assets during your lifetime. Live your life to the fullest, while planning ahead.
Some popular planned giving options are listed below. We encourage you to talk with your trusted advisors and your loved ones about choosing a gift that’s right for you. With careful planning, you may benefit from significant tax savings, allowing you to do even more for your Library and for those you love.
Gifts through a Will
Gifts can be made in your Will, either through a percentage of your estate or as a specific sum of money. If you already have a Will, you can add a gift to Surrey Libraries. Ask your lawyer for information.
There are several ways to include a gift to Surrey Libraries through your Will. The following sample clauses may be helpful in defining your wishes. Please talk with your trusted advisors to choose a gift that is right for you.

A specific gift amount:
I give the sum of ________ dollars to Surrey Public Library (Surrey Libraries), charitable registration number 121391882 RR 0001, to be used for its charitable purposes.
A residual (or percentage) gift amount:
I give the residue (OR _____% of the residue) of my estate to Surrey Public Library (Surrey Libraries), charitable registration number 121391882 RR 0001, to be used for its charitable purposes.
A gift for a specific purpose or program:
It’s possible to direct your gift to an area of the Library for which you have a specific interest. However, since no one can anticipate changes and developments that may occur in the future, we recommend you include a “power to vary” clause. This will ensure your gift provides maximum benefit while respecting the spirit of your original wishes. For example,
I give the sum of __________ dollars (OR the residue of my estate, OR _____% of the residue of my estate) to Surrey Public Library (Surrey Libraries), charitable registration number 121391882 RR 0001, for _______________________________.
If circumstances make the specified use of this bequest impractical or undesirable, the Library Board is authorized to apply the gift to other purposes that conform as much as possible to the spirit and intent of my original wishes.
