Surrey, BC – Surrey Libraries is thrilled to announce the launch of its Writer in Residence program, with Anthony Nerada as the debut Writer in Residence. The Writer in Residence program is designed to provide valuable support to the writing community in Surrey and runs from now to December 12.

Throughout his residency, Anthony will conduct free 45-minute writing consultations by appointment, with a maximum of one consultation per month per participant. These sessions are open to writers of all ages and provide an excellent opportunity for personalized feedback and guidance.

“We are delighted to support the local writing community through the Writer in Residence program,” said Dr. Balbir Gurm, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Surrey Libraries. “Anthony’s expertise and passion for writing will undoubtedly inspire and nurture the talents of many writers in Surrey.”

Anthony's journey as a writer began in fifth grade when his teacher recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his destiny. Since then, Anthony has immersed himself in the world of books and storytelling. He holds a BA in psychology and diplomas in public relations and publishing, which have equipped him with a unique perspective on writing and human behavior.

Anthony's debut novel, Skater Boy, received widespread acclaim, including being named a Kids’ Indie Next Pick by the American Booksellers Association and a 2024 Best Teen Book by Indigo-Chapters. Born and raised in Surrey, Anthony is a proud graduate

of Fleetwood Park Secondary School and an avid volunteer with the City of Surrey. He is also an alumnus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU).

The community is encouraged to participate in the Writer in Residence program and take advantage of the resources and expertise Anthony brings. For more information and to book a consultation, please visit https://surreylibraries.ca/writer-residence.
