Surrey Libraries is thrilled to have been selected by SurreyCares Community Foundation to receive a grant from the Government of Canada’s new $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund. This funding will allow Surrey Libraries to support our community’s most vulnerable. The $23,697 grant will fund an outreach librarian to visit the Surrey Food Bank, and modular housing complexes in and around our community to connect people to resources, technology, and a friendly face.

For many years, Surrey Libraries has been working closely with several organizations that serve homeless and vulnerable populations in Surrey.  The outreach librarian is a connection point for people as many have maintained existing relationship for quite some time. The librarian will also be delivering free library materials and deliver presentations on library resources as well as other resources for employment, health, filling out government forms, connecting to family, etc. This will connect people to information, supports, resources, and accurate information.  Individual support will also be available to assist with unique needs.
