Headings (H2)

H1 is reserved for the main page title.

These need to be used in order. Headings are an important navigational tool for both sighted and non-sighted users. They shouldn't be used decoratively or for emphasis. They structure the page and help us organize our content. There is a demo page with a sample heading structure, or on other pages across our site.

Bold or Italics

You can also bold text or use italics if you want draw a little bit of attention. We mainly use italics on the site for book titles though.

Text Alignment

We have three text alignment options. Left, center and right.

Left Aligned

In the quaint town of Maplewood, there was a charming little library known for its cozy reading nooks and friendly staff. Among the librarians, there was one who stood out—a raccoon named Rocky. Rocky wasn’t just any raccoon; he was a highly intelligent and curious creature who had a passion for books and helping others.

Centre Aligned

Every morning, Rocky would scurry into the library, his little paws ready to get to work. He wore a tiny librarian’s vest and glasses, which made him look quite scholarly. Rocky’s main job was to organize the children’s section, making sure all the picture books and fairy tales were in order. He had a knack for finding misplaced books and loved recommending stories to young readers.

Right Aligned

One day, a boy named Timmy came to the library looking for a book about dinosaurs. Rocky, with his keen sense of smell and sharp eyes, quickly found “The Big Book of Dinosaurs” and handed it to Timmy with a friendly chitter. Timmy was thrilled and thanked Rocky, who gave a little bow in return.

Numbered List Option #3

   1. The largest library in Asia, it holds over 37 million items, including ancient Chinese texts.
8. Russian State Library (Moscow, Russia): The national library of Russia, it holds over 47 million items, including rare Russian manuscripts.

Please use these sparingly. Our current Drupal site does a much better job of displaying these in mobile but it can still be quirky, especially with a lot of columns.

Links and Anchors

You can add links into body text blocks. Please make your links understandable on their own independent of whatever content surrounds it. So instead of 'for more information about links, click here', say something like 'Learn more about how to use links'. As you can see in this sample, external links automatically get a little icon and open in a new tab. Internal links (links staying within our website) open in the same window and don't have the icon.

Anchor Links

Anchor links let you direct a user to a specific portion of the page (ie Go back to the top of this page). The able of contents on this page uses anchor links but you can also direct users from one page to a certain page of another (ie. Learn more about Feature Content Blocks).
