All Surrey Libraries branches will be closed Friday, April 18 for Good Friday and Monday, April 21 for Easter Monday. All branches are open Saturday, April 19, and all branches, except Port Kells, are open on Sunday, April 20.

General Register of Chinese Immigration
The UBC department of History has indexed the General Register of Chinese Immigration for the years 1885-1952. The following database at Library and Archives Canada includes this Register, as well as other Chinese Immigration records.
Between 1887-1923 Chinese people wishing to immigrate were required to pay a $500.00 tax. The records of these payments provide a wealth of information about the immigrants. The microfilmed records are organized by the date immigration certificates were issued. The department holds a collection of popular family history magazines such as Internet Genealogy and Family Tree. Articles within these magazines may include information specific to Canada and Canadian provinces.
The department also holds newsletters from various genealogy societies around British Columbia. For example:
